HISTORY
Kisumu Town Church is an assembly within the Pentecostal Assemblies of God Kenya whose headquarters lie at a hill-top (Nyang’ori - Kiboswa) in the outskirt of Kisumu City and at the far south end of western Province.
Pentecostal Assemblies of God partially known as PAG was founded in Kenya by PAOC – Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. Born in the early 1900’s under the Canadian Mission, PAG grew rapidly and spread all over the country filling every location with worshiping pots Christianized Assemblies.
In 1971 or thereabout Kisumu Town Church then known as Nairobi Area Assembly was born out of Ondiek Assembly after a major church split.
After this birth, Kisumu Town church suffered several church splits which resulted into more than ten assemblies spread all over the town. These differences were welcome by the church leaders holding them as the best way of expanding the Church. Once again a shakable exodus took place at Kisumu Town Church in the year 2001, May 1st, where above 300 ditched the Church leaving only 11 behind. They claimed that their departure was “Holy.” The church having undergone such hardships, it is important that a structure is put in place to govern the members so as to avoid such unfortunate hoping in future.
To achieve this it has been found wanting to plant regulations and bylaw, which will bring about a sound Governance for the benefit not only of the local church but the entire Christian community and the unity of the body of Christ.
